The last big project for my technology class is to create a digital learning experience for others. While many of my peers are going in very practical directions with this project, I tend to try to find ways to incorporate my own nerdiness and desire to do crafts into my work wherever possible. It's not often that I get to have as much freedom as this project allows for, and it is for that reason that I have come up with the following idea:
I really love crafts and making things. I have learned to knit, make jewelry hangers, make candles, wall art, and a myriad of other things simply because I like being the creator of things that I can use or look at or enjoy.
I also really love Harry Potter. Because I am a nerd. There's really no other way to put it. I love sci-fi, fantasy, young adult books, classic literature, Doctor Who, and I firmly believe Firefly should have never been canceled. But I am of the generation who grew up with Harry Potter, and I was recently able to introduce it to my 11 year-old cousin, and it's been a great conversation.
I've decided, I think, that I want to combine those two things for my project. I already know how to make wands, and taught my cousins. I would like to make a whole learning experience that centers around Harry Potter crafts. Because really, why not?
But I'm looking for ideas. What kinds of things would you like to see on this? I'm thinking of centering it around what you could make if you wanted to have a Harry Potter themed party, or what you could give as a gift to a Harry Potter fanatic.
Right now I know I want to make wands and a scarf, but I'm open to lots of suggestions!
Let me know what you think! I'm also playing around with other themes, such as more art or decorative crafts, or only wearable crafts, or soap and candles featuring essential oils and my roommate.
I'm not sure. I haven't fully committed, so again, I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Thanks for reading!
